Weight Loss Can Help Reverse Diabetes While Exercise Is Best For Health Instead Of Losing Weight – The Inquisitr

A new study states that weight loss can help to reverse diabetes in long-term sufferers. For those who have diabetes, this should be good news because treating it is often a painful process involving daily shots of insulin and testing blood sugar.

Blasting News reported that a new study shows that weight loss actually reverses diabetes in long-term sufferers. The study showed that those who had type 2 diabetes for many years could lose weight and get rid of their diabetic condition because losing weight removes the fat around the pancreas due to caloric intake. Conducted at Newcastle University, the study was led by Professor Roy Taylor, a professor of medicine and metabolism.

One important point of the study is that the amount of weight loss necessary to produce results for a diabetic depends on the person. By keeping the weight off, the participants showed that their pancreas functioned normally and returned their insulin levels to non-diabetic levels. Another study that had been conducted by Professor Taylor in 2011 showed that participants could get rid of their type 2 diabetes through a low-calorie diet.

The biggest question researchers had was whether or not the participants would remain disease-free. In the latest study, the 30 participants remained disease-free through out the entire study. Even when they lost weight and yet remained overweight or obese, following the low-calorie diet helped them rid them of the disease. Twelve of the study participants were still disease-free six months after the study. Taylor said the results showed that even those who had type 2 diabetes for more than 10 years could cure their diabetes through diet.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, for those struggling to lose weight, it can often be a chore. Even if they have lost the weight, it often returns. There are many things that dieters can do to help them with their weight loss efforts that are simple to do, effective, and can become part of a healthy lifestyle. One of the most effective weight loss tips is to drink 16 ounces of water 30 minutes before meals. Dieters in the study who did that lost almost 10 pounds without making any other changes to their diets.

The Huffington Post reported that for those who use exercise to help them lose weight, exercise does matter, but it isn’t as important as those who are trying to lose weight may think. Although exercise can help with weight loss by building muscle and burning calories, if the dieter really wants to lose weight, it’s necessary to eat less. Exercise also improves bone health as well as cardiovascular health, improves sleep, and reduces the risk of some cancers, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders.

Another problem with exercise is that it has been promoted as an effective weight loss tool even though about two-thirds of all American adults remain overweight or obese. One reason for this may be that many adults aren’t sure how to integrate exercise into their weight loss plans to make it effective.

Dr. Yoni Freedhoff, M.D. Founder and Medical Director of the Bariatric Medical Institute and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, said that exercise shouldn’t be used for the sole purpose of weight loss.

“Exercise should never be undertaken in order to lose weight as the calories burned through exercise aren’t enough to be fair and people often have a bad habit of eating back their exercise.”

A simple and effective weight loss plan includes a combination of a reduced calorie diet and exercise. To lose weight the dieter needs to take in fewer calories than are burned. Eating healthy is important too because it allows the dieter to get adequate nutrition.
