This Robot Can Turn Any Photo on Your Phone Into Nail Art – Allure Magazine (blog)

Imagine owning a robot capable of putting any image at your fingertips&mash;or, actually, on them—in minutes.

The Nailbot, created by Pree Walia, a University of Chicago MBA graduate, and Casey Schulz, a robotics engineer, uses cosmetics-grade ink to print art (emojis, shapes, any picture you happen to have on your phone) on your nails.

When a small, at-home version of the Nailbot is released later this year, you’ll be able to use an app on your smartphone to control the entire operation, from choosing an image to telling the device to print onto your nails. Walia says she’s already developing a version capable of printing color on your entire nail surface but is still a few years out from perfecting that technology. In an interview with Tech Crunch, Walia and Schulz said that all a person has to do is prep their nail with white polish before putting the finger under the printer.

They’re also planning to develop a feature that will allow people to create their own nail art. “We hear from a lot of girls they want to create their own art, so we’re creating programs for them to do so,” says Walia. “We also have a licensed art store so that companies can create and license their own art.” The future seems so cool and creative.
