Camarillo

Neurologist to share info about tremors

Dr. James Sutton, a local neurologist, will discuss the various causes of tremors, treatment options available to control symptoms affecting daily life activities, and prognosis of diseases and available support systems.

The presentation will be from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Camarillo Health Care District, 3639 E. Las Posas Road, Suite E117.

Moorpark

Presentation to look at brain health

The Moorpark Active Adult Center will host a presentation on brain health, courtesy of the Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Association, at 1 p.m. Thursday at 799 Moorpark Ave.

Guest speaker will be Gloria Forgea, a nurse with Livingston.

Council schedules dance, meeting

The Simi Valley Council on Aging plans a dance and general membership meeting in coming weeks.

The council’s Spring Fling dance from will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m. April 8 at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi. The dance will feature Moore Music, and dance instruction will be provided. Cost is $7. Call 583-6363 for more information.

Dinner to honor three women

Three women will be honored with the first Soaring Star Award presented by Moving Seniors Forward — Community Resource Group in a ceremony from 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 7 at the North Ranch Center, 1400 N. Westlake Blvd.

The honor will go to Bonnie Olson with Buena Vista Hospice; Judy Pepiot, Simi Valley Council on Aging housing liaison; and Ann Sobel, executive director of our Community House of Hope.

The French-themed awards event will offer wine tasting and dinner.

Program welcomes new volunteers

The Conejo Senior Volunteer Program seeks business leaders, nonprofit agency personnel and those working in the fields of aging or volunteerism to serve on its advisory council.

The council will advise or assist with fundraising, volunteer recruitment, volunteer recognition, measuring accomplishments and more. The council meets every other month.

VENTURA

Workshop to provide help with dementia

The Savvy Caregiver workshop series will offer a four-week program for family caregivers offering 12 hours of face-to-face training with dementia experts.

The class will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon April 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Meditech Health Services, 1650 Palma Drive, Suite 101.

Registration is limited and reservations are required. Cost is $25 for the course.

Joint replacement to be discussed

Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association will have a joint replacement class to prepare individuals for total knee or hip replacement operations.

The class will meet from 1-2 p.m. April 7 at Livingston Memorial, 1996 Eastman Ave., Suite 109.

Home preparation, exercises and information about rehabilitation will be discussed.

Joint replacement to be discussed

There will be a Technology Connection workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the SCAN Health and Wellness Center, 6633 Telephone Road.

Volunteers will be available to help seniors with questions related to their cellphones, tablet devices and computers.
