This Robot Will Make Your Instagrams Into Nail Art, What a Time to Be Alive – TheGloss

The future is now, you guys. Gone are the days of pinning Pinterest tutorials and scanning YouTube videos for nail art inspiration that you will inevitably mess up so horribly. Technology is here to save your digits from nail polish disasters.

Enter The Nailbot. This printer-sized, well, printer will take any photo you have on your phone (or one chosen from a pre-set list) and transform it into nail art, pretty much instantly. The IndieGoGo-backed project was created by Pee Walia and Casey Schulz as the answer to the complaints of never being able to achieve nail art perfect, which is a complaint I have every time I look at Pinterest.

While the idea of printing photos onto your nails is not something new, the fact that Nailbot comes with a cradle that connects your phone to the printer, is what sets this apart from other printers out there. You can scroll through those Instagram photos in your Camera Roll or choose a little Clipart-like photo from the Nailbot’s library (which are basically glorified emojis, but whatever. They’re still pretty cute) and in 5 seconds, you’ll get it printed onto your fingernail.

Time-saving is a big trend in the world of nail polish, with spray-on nail polish leading the charge. But the Nailbot is more than just about saving you time; it’s about creating a customized nail art that is exclusively yours.

The preorders for the $199 robot are already sold out, but you can add yourself to a waitlist. Nail art is something that’s here to say and I can’t fault the creators for wanting to take the hassle out of getting images on your fingers. Plus, if you get your nails done with extensive nail art every few weeks, this will pay for itself in about 2 months, which is pretty cool.

The team behind the Nailbot isn’t afraid to take the nail art trend by storm, with ideas in production to link the printer to social media platforms, and have the option to create your own nail art. While I’m not a big nail art person, I can understand the appeal, especially for younger girls getting into nail art and not wanting to spend $30 on a manicure (or have their moms pay them).

I love a good manicure, and while you still need to actually paint your nails before using the Nailbot, I can totally see this becoming something designers use on the runway for Fashion Week. It’s an easy way to get your brand everywhere, from head-to-toe (or finger). Personally, I’ll think I’ll stick to attempting to draw hearts on my nails and call it a day.
