Life Center to host brain health series – Journal Gazette and Times-Courier

TOLEDO — Three sessions designed to improve brain health have been scheduled at the Life Center of Cumberland County in April.

If planning to attend, preregister at the University of Illinois Extension by calling 217-849-3931. There is no cost to attend.

Sponsored by the U of I, each set will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon. According to the U of I pamphlet, the workshop will consider how the memory process works and discuss how memory changes in all stages of life. However, forgetfulness is not limited to senior citizens. Everyone, regardless of age, forgets occasionally.

In the first session, titled Hold That Thought, on April 15, the goal will be to provide strategies for helping with every-day forgetfulness.

The second class, Fit Wits, is set for April 22 and will explain that brain health and body health are related.

And lastly, in Head Strong: Exercise Strategies to Enhance Memory and Thinking, set for April 29, participants will discuss how challenging the brain can be beneficial. This session will map out exercise strategies that will challenge our brains.

Lunch, provided by the Peace Meal staff, is available. Reservations are required by 10 a.m. that day or before.

Following the series, a session is planned once a month beginning in May.
