Participants Press On In Project HOP2E Weight Loss Challenge – WBOY-TV

GRAFTON -

Sandy Davis and Judy Warner are now halfway through their weight loss challenge with Project HOP2E.

They both agree the word “challenge” is appropriate. For Davis, getting to the gym is the hardest part.

“I have to make myself come to exercise,” she said. “I have a couple girls that I exercise with and when they don’t come, I don’t want to come.”

Warner is one of those people who motivate Davis.

“It’s easier when you have more than one person doing it because if you don’t want to do it one day, then that person shows up and said ‘okay let’s do it’,” Warner said.

Warner said she is in the gym five days a week and some days are more difficult than others.

“I think it’s harder because the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight and the harder it is to keep on track as far as going to the gym, especially when you hurt when you go,” Warner said.

She has lost seven pounds since the competition started and Davis said she is down 11 pounds.

“I’d like to lose another 45 pounds and I know I’m not going to get that by May but I’ll be happy with 30 by May,” Davis said.

She plans to keep on track with her nutrition, not just through May, but long term.

“I’m never going back. Now that I know what I’m supposed to eat, I don’t have a desire to eat sweets and bread and things like that,” Davis said.

Davis said she is also more active with family and friends and she will continue to embrace her new lifestyle.

“I’ve found that I can get out and do a lot more now than I was before, where I’d just go home and sit down and now we’re out taking walks together and doing things like that,” she said.

All together, the participants have lost more than one thousand pounds. The final weigh-in will be held Memorial Day weekend.
