Healthy learning, healthy eating – Beaver Dam Daily Citizen

Third grade students in Beaver Dam elementary schools are knowing concerning the importance of consuming healthy and balanced foods.

Representatives from Taher Professional meals Service Management are going to the grades to prove to students why consuming healthy and balanced is important. Taher has actually been supplying healthy and balanced dishes for the district due to the fact that the fall of 2012.

“This is our 3rd presentation,” meals service director Kevin Dresdow said. “We are aiming to finish all of the 3rd grade classrooms in the district by the middle of March.”

Taher chef Irene Pawlisch said they are teaching students why the healthy and balanced selections they notice in the cafeteria are important.

“We are educating them why we place those meals there,” Pawlisch said.

Pawlisch talked to the students at Wilson Elementary on Thursday afternoon concerning the importance of consuming fruit and veggies every day.

The straightforward colors of the fruits and veggies are red, orange and yellow, green, blue and purple, white and brown.

For example, red fruits and vegetables, such as, beets and cranberries, minimize the risk of numerous sorts of cancer and are powerful antioxidants.

Pawlisch shared why every of these meals teams must be eaten every day.

“In the cafeteria, there is a rule that we serve every one of these through the week,” Pawlisch said.
