Brought to you by TRESemmé
The sunny season is finally here and if you have thick uncontrollable hair like me, styling it in humid weather can be a serious pain in the a**.
With that in mind, I decided to have a look for some styles that would make styling this mop much easier.
Social media is THE best place to find inspiration and my current fave is Instagram (that said, I’ll always have a yearning for Jessica Alba’s beach waves as you can see below).
Here are five gorgeous styles that will keep your hair looking good in sweltering heat.
Messy upstyle
So easy and SO fab.
If you’re working on a style that requires texture, do NOT wash your hair on the same day.
Use some mousse to add volume and twist around to form a messy bun, add some pretty hair clips a lá Salon Leah, and you’re sorted.
High pony
Another easy look that will keep your hair out of the way in the heat.
It might take a little longer but it’s ideal when you’re on holidays and the humidity is strong on a night out.
Wash and blow-dry your hair straight (as best as you can). Don’t worry too much though because your straightener is going to do all the hard work.
Run the irons through your locks and after applying heat defence products, comb through and put your hair in a high pony. Sorted.
Top buns
A style that’s getting so much love this year.
Maybe it’s the Star Wars effect, maybe not. Either way, we love this Princess Leia look.
Make a side-parting in your hair, divide into two ponytails, and secure with a bobbin or thin elastic.
Next is to twist each ponytail into coils which you then fasten with hair grips – ideal for warm weather.
I love this messy undone take on the style, courtesy of moon_beam_dreams.
Braids
What’s great about braids or plaits, whatever you prefer to call them, is that you can do whatever you like with them.
Add in a couple at the front and twist them back for a pretty look. Go old-school with pigtails or if you have the time, a French braid is the perfect sunshine style.
Regardless of the style you choose, you’ll be able to keep your hair out of your face and that’s the main goal.
Beach waves
Another super simple look that’s ideal for summer.
No one wants to spend ages fixing your hair when the weather is good and this style is a fail-safe.
After washing your hair, add in some salt spray for texture.
The next step is to blot your locks with kitchen paper as this will soak up some of the excess wet and save you time.
Blast dry your locks and when finished, use your straightener to add in a couple of waves (if your hair is naturally straight). If you love to have perfectly styled hair but want to keep it healthy, strong and protected from the damages of styling, then try the TRESemmé heat defence styling spray.
If you love to style your hair with blow dry’s, straighteners and curlers but hate the dry damaged look, you need TRESemmé heat defence styling spray. TRESemmé Heat Defence Styling Spray helps protect your hair from damage caused by heat styling tools by up to 230°C*. Apply generously for shiny, soft and perfectly styled hair.
*vs a non conditioing shampoo alone.
