Fearne Cotton is happy to cook meat for her children, although she is a vegetarian.
The 34-year-old TV and radio star shares son Rex, three, and nine-month-old daughter Honey, with husband Jesse Wood and despite the fact that she has actually not eaten meat since she was 11 years old, Fearne lets her kids have actually it if they want.
The blonde beauty – who started eating fish again in her 20s – said: “I’ll happily stick a lemon up a chicken’s bum, it doesn’t bother me. I want them [my children] to decide for themselves when they’re older how they choose to eat.”
Fearne – who has actually just released cookbook ‘Cook Happy, Cook Healthy’ – is more concerned with keeping refined sugar out of her children’s diet than forcing her vegetarian lifestyle on them.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, she said: “I want to know exactly what I’m putting in my body and I use as lots of wholesome, natural and vitalising ingredients as I can … I would certainly rather young people eat healthy, clean food than chips and chocolate. But ultimately, eat what makes you happy.”
The former BBC Radio One radio host no longer eats junk food because it makes her feel “like crap” afterwards but she still does enjoy a gin and tonic drink as a guilty pleasure.
She said: “I’m so used to eating the way I do that something like that would certainly make me feel so crap afterwards that it would certainly ruin it for me. I love gin and tonic. So I’ll always welcome a good G&T with open arms.”
