Fun-loving TV host Giuliana Rancic (if you’ve watched any red-carpet event ever, you’ve seen her) knows beauty and fashion like the back of her hand. At 41, she spends her days chasing after her adorable son Duke, filming Fashion Police and other E! shows, and designing clothes—she even has her own line of wine. But what are some things we don’t know about her? Here, we get the inside scoop from the star herself.

NewBeauty: What have you learned about the importance of good skin care being in the spotlight on TV?GR: Olive oil is a big deal in Italy. A lot of women use olive oil for their hair, skin and nails and I think we will see it start popping up in more products here in the U.S. because it has so many benefits like antioxidants and vitamin E. It’s great. People think olive oil will clog your pores, but it actually has the opposite effect. Also, Italians stick to fresh ingredients instead of processed foods, which boosts energy levels and healthy skin.
NB: What are your tips for prepping your body for summer?
GR: Exfoliating is super important for having beautiful, glowy skin. I exfoliate 2–3 times a week with a homemade mix of coffee beans and coconut oil. I love walking outdoors, too, so I always use sunscreen with at least SPF 50. Summer weather calls for strappy heels and sandals, so I also make sure I always have my newest obsession, Compeed Blister Cushions, on hand in case I get a blister. They are a lifesaver. Finally, I love a good mani-pedi—I’m all about white nails right now. I think they look beautiful on any skin tone, and they scream summer. I always keep nail polish with me so I can reapply every few days to keep it fresh.

NB: What are your must-have beauty products?GR: I feel my best right now! I’m about to reach my five-year milestone being cancer-free and I feel better than ever. I wake up in the morning feeling terrific because I’m getting good sleep and staying healthy. Sleep is critical, and I’m finally at a place with my schedule where I am consistently getting eight hours a night. I’m also taking care of my body, working out just enough and eating a balanced diet packed with fruits and vegetables.

NB: How do you approach aging, especially in the public eye? GR: I’ve been really busy lately with my clothing line [G by Giuliana] at HSN, and I’m designing 12 collections this year. My Xo,G wine has also been expanding—we have rosé, moscato, pinot grigio, and pinot noir. Also, my charity Fab-U-Wish has been granting more wishes than ever—we continue granting wishes to women who have breast cancer and are undergoing treatment, and our big gala will be in October in NYC. And, I’m really excited about a new show for E!, which I will be producing, and I’m busy with Fashion Police and the red carpet as well. There is a lot going on, but I feel like I’m able to balance and enjoy it all!
NB: Of all your celebrity interviews, which one is super memorable?GR: I relax with family. There’s nothing I love more than spending time with my husband and son. We’re such a close-knit group, and whether we go visit his sister at her lake house in Michigan and go water-skiing, or go to Mexico where we love to vacation, we certainly make sure to have a lot of family time doing fun activities.
