Matteo’s Public fundraiser for teen mental health May 4 – The Union of Grass Valley

Matteo’s Public will be hosting a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. today to support teen mental health. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of all dine-in and take-out proceeds to “What’s Up? Wellness Checkups,” a suicide prevention program offering in-school emotional health screenings and follow up resources for students at designated Nevada County high schools. Reservations are recommended by calling 530-265-0782.

Serving teens and families in Nevada County since 2013, What’s Up? Wellness Checkups has provided emotional health screenings to 977 high school students, out of which 235 teens have been referred to follow-up services and support. The program has also begun facilitating both boys and mindfulness groups in four high schools in order to fill an unmet need in services.

While the program is funded through Nevada County Behavioral Health’s MHSA monies, additional funds are being raised to open screening up to all area high schools. The Nevada County NAMI chapter has offered to be the go-between, making donations tax deductible. For more information, contact What’s Up? Wellness Checkups at 530-268-5854 or visit http://ift.tt/1NVByM8.
