Melissa McCarthy’s before and after photos are amazing! But despite her incredible weight loss, she hasn’t stopped speaking out against body shaming.
McCarthy has lost an estimated 50 pounds. And she revealed last month that she is now a size 14.
“[There’s] No trick, nothing to tell, just super boring life,” she previously told Extra. “You bring it real down, you don’t do anything fun and you go to bed at 7:30 — that’s the trick.”

But she slimmed down mostly for her health, not just to feel better about herself. In fact, McCarthy said this week that she has learned to love her entire body – even her “flaws.”
“I feel sexiest when I feel comfortable, when I feel most myself, when I’m not trying to be anything other than who I am,” McCarthy said on The Jess Cagle Interview. “[I love] all of it: my flaws, my shortcomings, my body parts that you’re like, ‘Well, couldn’t that be better?’ I think, especially after having kids, I go, ‘Well, the alternative is pretty bad. I’ll take me as I am.'”

In fact, Melissa McCarthy isn’t sure if she will keep up with her weight loss for the rest of her life. But she doesn’t think the public should obsess over how thin she is.
“I’ll be up, I’ll be down, probably for the rest of my life,” she admitted to Refinery29. “The thing is, if that is the most interesting thing about me, I need to go have a lavender farm in Minnesota and give this up. There has to be something more. There are so many more intriguing things about women than their butt or their this or their that.”

Melissa McCarthy actually doesn’t believe in comparing women’s bodies at all. It’s part of the reason why she’s spoken out against plus-sizes. And she did so again last week, likely in response to Amy Schumer’s feud with Glamour.
McCarthy posted a photo with the quote, “WARNING: Reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty.'” She then captioned the image, “We have to stop categorizing and judging women based on their bodies. We are teaching young girls to strive for unattainable perfection instead of feeling healthy and happy in their own skin. ‘Imagine we are linked not ranked.’ Gloria Steinem.”
