Honey Good: Here are the best sandals and nail polish for spring – St. Louis Sun Times

Spring is in the air! There is so much in store for us as springtime approaches! Oh so much, darlings! A sparkling sun, flower power, boats back in their slips in the harbors, road trips, fabulous looking sandals and lacquer polishes to adorn our feet and hands as we put away our covered shoes, boots and gloves! We breathe a sigh of relaxed relief and feel a rush of excitement, as we dress for a day of springtime shopping. The frosting on the cake for every woman is shopping for accessories to go with her divine new floral print dress or great pair of sexy new jeans. Of course, darlings, I have already started. I couldn’t resist swinging open the doors of my favorite shops to drop in for a look! I had my sights on sandals and nail lacquers.

Here are a few of my finds

Best Nail Lacquers

  • Nars: Ikiru Blue. $20.00. All shades of blue are in, darlings.
  • Channel: Gitane. $28. A beautiful red orange color.
  • Deborah Lippmanm: Silver Sands. $20.00. A neutral to wear with your new floral print.
  • Essie: Palm Frond. $8.50. A lovely green color to remind us of the importance of nature!
  • Tom Ford: Indian Pink. $35.00. This color brings out of our greatest asset. Our femininity!
  • Dior: Sunset Beach. $27.00. A gorgeous spring color, darlings. I will leave this color a surprise!

Best Sandal Brands

Miu Miu: These sandals are jewels. Literally. They are like a piece of jewelry. And they are neutral in their bright and shiny silver. They can be worn with everything.

Prada: I love these sandals. Mine are a beautiful shade of patent leather pink that looks smashing with shades of orange and whites.

Giuseppe Zanotti: I bought these sandals years ago. I still adore them. I added them to the mix because I think splurging on an accessory is just fine if you plan on keeping it in your wardrobe for years.

As an extra for you darling who like to do your own nails here are my tips for the perfect manicure.

  • Use the diamond nail file, not an emery board.
  • Rounded nails that mirror the shape of your cuticle is an elegant look. Just over the edge of the fingertip looks simply divine.
  • Soak your nails in warm sudsy water for five minutes to soften your cuticles.
  • Use a nail stone to push back your cuticles.
  • Do not cut cuticles. Your cuticles protect your nails from infection.
  • Trim your hangnails.
  • Apply a rich hand cream.
  • Use a polish remover to wipe off the cream on your nails or wash your nails to rid the oils from the hand cream.
  • Apply a base coat. If your nails have ridges I suggest, Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat or OPI.
  • Brush on two thin coats of color and a swipe of color across the tip to prevent chipping.
  • Wait for a few minutes and apply a top coat. Swipe across the top of each nail.
  • Use a tiny brush, dipped in polish remover, to clean up any smudges around the edges.
  • Always polish your nails from pinkie to thumb and polish your dominate hand first.
