I Tried to Pull Off ‘Easy’ Valentine’s Day Nail Art—Here’s What Happened – TheGloss

do you like my nails

I need to probably preface this by saying that, while I’m by no means an expert, I’m not exactly a nail art novice. There was a period of time at the start of 2015 once I constantly had some sort of ~*exciting*~ manicure going on, whether that was simply an accent nail or some sort of relatively simple design. Due to the fact that then, my like for nail art has actually tapered off, mostly due to the fact that I don’t have actually a ton of time to sit and give myself an ornate manicure. I’m a fairly busy and vital person, you see.

That said, Valentine’s Day is coming up, and Due to the fact that there’s nothing I like much more compared to dressing up for a theme or holiday, I believed it was the perfect time to resurrect my nail art skillz. I wracked my brain for the 5 easiest V-Day-all set nail art designs I could believe of (I am several months out-of-practice, after all), grabbed my polish, and got to painting. Or, well, attempting to paint. Really, it was simply an hour of cursing and slapping polish on any type of available surface, yet just what is art otherwise an experiment in foul language and color play?

Here’s just what I used:

This is portion of SinfulColors‘ Valentine’s Day collection, which I believed would certainly be proper for the occasion. In addition to these four shades (the black bottle is a gel tech top coat), I additionally used a red OPI shade, a striper brush, and a dotting tool. If you don’t have actually nail art tools on hand, you can easily constantly use a toothpick a bobby pin to achieve the same results.

On along with the show!

Look #1: A Big Red Heart, due to the fact that I’m Not a Creative Human

What’s much more festive for Valentine’s Day compared to a classic red heart? To start off, I used the lightest shade of polish as my based. Then, using the bigger end of my dotting tool, I selected up a bit of red polish and applied to small dots right next to each other:

After that, I proceeded (well, attempted to proceed) to drag the paint down from the two dots in to a sharp point to develop the heart shape. After every one of was said and done, it wasn’t a complete disaster:

It’s a bit of a wonky heart, yet just what single 20-something doesn’t have actually a wonky heart about Valentine’s Day, you know just what I mean?

Look #2: One Mini Heart, due to the fact that Sometimes I’m Not Creative on a Smaller sized Scale

So I had to skip a finger due to the fact that I’m a bad planner, yet don’t make a big deal from it, okay?

My second look was supposed to be much more basic compared to the first, yet slightly much more subtle for those of you that don’t hope to walk about looking adore you’ve simply put stickers on your nails. A small, white heart need to be simple to pull off, right? (Spoiler alert: wrong.)

My base color for this look was that red shade I stated before, and the same technique as along with the previous heart applied here as well. This time, though, I used the Smaller sized end of the dotting tool and the lightest shade of polish:

It was every one of going well, then the next thing I knew:

Okay, so the glare from our overhead lighting actually makes that heart look a lot much better compared to it was IRL, yet I’m not going to lie to you: it sort of looked adore I simply spit white nail polish every one of over the corner of my nail. Due to the fact that that wasn’t the look I was going for that day, I wasn’t every one of too pleased. along with a little technique though, anyone can easily pull these looks off; every one of it takes is patience and a stable hand. And maybe some nail polish remover nearby, simply to be safe.
